ESOL Formative & Summative Assessment Resources (Entry 1 - Level 2)
Keystone Academic Consultants Limited was commissioned by Skills and Education Group Awards to develop a comprehensive suite of English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) assessment materials.
The project encompassed the full qualification range from ESOL Entry Level 1 to ESOL Level 2. It required the development of assessments that were accessible and appropriate for learners at each level while maintaining the academic rigour, consistency, validity and reliability expected by a recognised awarding organisation.
Our Contribution

We developed both formative and summative assessment materials, including:

Formative assessment materials: Sample examination papers designed to familiarise learners and approved centres with the structure, language, content and expectations of the assessments. These materials were supported by comprehensive mark schemes aligned with the relevant ESOL Core Curriculum codes.
Summative assessment materials: Secure live examination papers designed to assess learners formally against the specified requirements and learning outcomes of their qualifications. These assessments were also supported by comprehensive mark schemes aligned with the relevant ESOL Core Curriculum codes.
The completed assessment suite was produced to a consistently high professional and academic standard. The quality of the work, including its accuracy, clarity, level appropriateness and alignment with curriculum and qualification requirements, received highly positive feedback from Skills and Education Group Awards.

iESOL Formative & Summative Assessment Resources (B1 - C2)

Following the successful completion of our earlier ESOL assessment development project, Keystone Academic Consultants Limited was commissioned again by Skills and Education Group Awards to develop a comprehensive suite of International English for Speakers of Other Languages (iESOL) assessment resources. This further commission reflected the organisation’s continued confidence in our subject expertise, assessment design capabilities and ability to deliver complex projects to a consistently high professional standard.

The project encompassed proficiency levels B1 to C2 and was structured in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Developed by the Council of Europe, the CEFR provides an internationally recognised framework for describing, teaching and assessing language proficiency. The assessments were designed to reflect the linguistic competence, communicative ability, cognitive complexity and performance expectations associated with each level while maintaining validity, reliability, consistency and academic rigour.
Our Contribution

We developed both formative and summative assessment materials, including:
Formative assessment materials: Sample examination papers designed to familiarise learners and educational providers with the structure, language, task demands and performance expectations of the assessments. These resources were supported by comprehensive mark schemes aligned with the relevant CEFR proficiency descriptors and level-specific assessment criteria.

Summative assessment materials: Secure live examination papers designed to evaluate learners formally against the specified linguistic competencies and performance standards associated with levels B1, B2, C1 and C2. These assessments were supported by detailed mark schemes aligned with the relevant CEFR descriptors and assessment requirements.

The completed assessment suite was produced to a consistently high professional and academic standard, demonstrating our expertise in CEFR-aligned assessment design, level differentiation and academic quality assurance. The project was completed successfully and received highly positive feedback from Skills and Education Group Awards.
